Make Collage using Magazine picture
Activities conducted on the last day of the month aims to develop the determination and dedication necessary to complete the chosen goals within the students. These activities are designed and balanced with academic curriculum so that every student gets to learn beyond subjects. These activities aim to explore and encourage creativity in children and offer them a platform to show their skills. Collage making for kindergarten students promoted their artistic skills and focused on the development of fine motor skills.
Students drew different pictures of fish, flowers, shapes etc on the chart paper, and pasted various pieces of coloured and glitter papers on it.
Classes I to III :
Mask Making Activity
Mask Making activity for std 1 to 3 was organised to explore and encourage creativity in children and offer them a platform to show their skills in mask making. It inspired children to think and work creatively and promote artistic excellence. Children participated earnestly in the competition. Children came up with amazing artwork in mask making. A variety of paper and paper plate masks, head bands, eye mask, animal mask etc were made by them and appreciated by one and all. The final judgment was made by the respective teacher. The criteria for judgement were: creativity, selection of material, detailing of design and overall impact and originality. Each of these mask prepared by the children was a treat to our eyes. This fun filled activity witnessed an enthusiastic participation of all the students.
Std 4 to 6 Students brought the gathered information about Historical places, Museums, Universities, Airports, Food, Fruits, Crops etc. present in different places and food habits of people living in different places in Maharashtra and pasted pictures on map of Maharashtra which was drawn on chart paper. They presented the information in front of class. This activity helped them to explore Maharashtra. To enhance not only creative and presentation
skill of the students but also to increase their knowledge about their own state, to enhance their thinking power, the activity was conducted. The participants collected very informative content along with pictures so that they can recognize places in Maharashtra very easily. All the students participated enthusiastically.
Classes IV - V :
Know your state
As a part of month end activity on Nov 30, 2019 classes IV and V (Rose and Daisy) made posters on topic Know your state. Students participated in the activity house wise as Coral, Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald. The time allotted was one hour. Students brought the gathered information about Historical places, Museums, Universities, Airports, Food, Fruits, Crops etc. present in different places and food habits of people living in different places in Maharashtra and pasted pictures on map of Maharashtra which was drawn on chart paper. They presented the information in front of class. This activity helped them to explore Maharashtra. To enhance not only creative and presentation skill of the students but also to increase their
knowledge about their own state, to enhance their thinking power, the activity was conducted. The participants collected very informative content along with pictures so that they can recognize places in Maharashtra very easily. All the students participated enthusiastically along with competitive spirit. The students were judged by teacher on the criteria of judgment .i.e. Creativity, Topic knowledge and presentation. Students enjoyed the activity.
Classes VI to VIII:
Skit on “ Water Conservation / Forest Conservation”
Dramatization is a unique tool to the potential as a diverse medium to enhance the cognitive, affective and motor development. A high degree of thinking, imagination and creativity aids in the development of an individual. As a part of month end activity, skit competition was organized for students of class VI to VIII on 30th November 2019. The activity was conducted in order to enhance the imagination skills, powers of creative expression, linguistic skills. Competition was greatly helpful and encouraging in boosting self confidence.
The children participated enthusiastically in the competition as they got an opportunity to
showcase their talents. The skits on Water Conservation and Forest Conservation were enacted. Simple methods to preserve water and forest resources were conveyed in the most convincing form in order to spread awareness. The competition was greatly helpful and encouraging in boosting self-confidence .The students’ performance on stage was a sight to watch. The collaborative efforts and hard work of the teachers and students was evident as the students performed brilliantly on the stage.
Classes IX – X:
Quizzing is not just about GK, but about connecting the sits, reading between the lines and arriving at a conclusion. It needs to focus on logical reasoning too. Hence To encourage students to look beyond their textual knowledge and establish a relationship between theory and application of the learnt concept inter house quiz competition was conducted as the month end activity for std 9 and 10. Since questions were based on out of syllabus students used their critical thinking. Team building and involvement of every participant strengthened the bonds between both the class.
Science Club : Prepare PPT related to environment
Science club conducted an activity ‘Quiz Competition’ with an objective to understand and to cope up the current happenings in the scientific arena around the world. Questions related to Natural phenomenons, Human body, Science Abbreviations, Discovery and Inventions and Nobel Prize winners in the field of Science were the main topics selected for the Quiz competition. The students were divided into four groups.
The groups were LFS team A, B, C and D. Various rounds were conducted based on the increasing difficulty levels. LFS team ‘A’ grabbed the first prize. Competition was conducted in Physics labs. Students were acquainted with the latest happening around us, and day to day science around us. Result announcement was followed by discussions involving students and teachers regarding the theories behind the correct answers. The activity not only fostered the interest of students and science and technology but also developed cognitive thinking and research driven attitude.
Maths Club : Survey and graph
On 23rd Nov 2019 Maths club organized ‘Survey and graph’ activity with an objective to enhance student’s computational, communicational and geometrical skills. The students were divided into four groups as per their houses. The in-charge teacher guided the students about survey and its interpretation through raw data.
Each group conducted survey of names of blood groups of different people e.g. The principal, teachers, office staff, drivers, lady attendants etc. and share with them the importance to know their own blood groups. Through this raw data they prepared frequency distribution table and represented the same through pie chart. From pie chart pupils understood the percentage of different blood groups in LFS. During the activity students performed intelligently. It was an interesting and informative activity since each group
come up through different life skills like critical thinking, spatial relationship and problem solving. The in-charge teacher examined the performance of each group in the light of the parameters as Co-ordination, Accuracy and Time Management.
Eco Club : Creativity and Information about Rocks.
Creativity and Information about Rocks. Objective: Children exercise their creative-thinking skills as they create treasures from simple rocks, they find outside. The activity was conducted on Saturday. The in-charge teacher and the students discussed the definition and process of formation and classification with their respective properties of various types and forms of Rocks. Creative, commercial and scientific uses of various rocks were explained to the students like Mexican beach pebbles, wedding slate rocks, snow white pebbles flat slate rocks and Rosa Mexican rocks, etc. The activity further continued with the children showing their creativity by colourfully decorating and painting the rocks and giving simple social messages.
Some even made poster using stones. This activity helped them understand the role of each big and small component of eco system and bind with it. Skills like creative thinking and self confidence were inculcated in the students
Literature Club : Movie on Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam
"To succeed in your mission, you must have a single-minded devotion in your life. ”A great thought by ‘THE MISSILE MAN OF INDIA’ , Lt. Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam. To create such a devotion among the students an inspiring movie based on Dr Kalam and his life was shown to the students in the Multi-purpose Hall. The activity started with ‘Anulom-Vilom’ a yogasana to create silence and concentration within the students so that they could inculcate the learnings of Kalaam’s life. The entire movie show described his life and his efforts to be the on of the most intellectual persons of India. It gave a glimpse of his childhood, college days, his inventions, and his journey as India’s President as well as his love for children. All the
students were inspired after watching the movie and had bright dreams in their eyes. Questions were asked based on the movie and excitement was seen among the students to answer them. Students were also asked to share their views on Dr. Kalaam’s life and what would they do to become like him. The show concluded with the presentation of a short review story.
Chef Club: Nutritious Ladoo.
According to Ayurveda, consumption of dry fruits, nuts, and sprouts in winter keeps the body warm and improves the blood circulation and immune system. Keeping this concept in mind school conducted nutritious chikki and ladoo making activity for the little chefs. Students brought the necessary ingredients as per teacher's guidance, to make their favourite item, like dates, nuts, dry fruits, jaggery, etc.
Students prepared delicious ladoos and chikkis out of the raw ingredients. A group of students explained the nutritional values of all the ingredients like various vitamin sources, iron sources, and other important values like detoxification, improved circulation and immunity. Students took a great interested in preparing the items and sharing it with other pupils. The activity helped them to inculcate the habit of preparing and eating healthy food.
To make a Power Point Presentation on Historical events and places. To develop the interest and sharpen the student’s creative and artistic skills ‘Power Point Presentation Making Activity’ was conducted for heritage club students. The in-charge teachers gave necessary instructions and guided students regarding activity. Using their knowledge and skills, the students prepared attractive slides with the help of information about historical monuments, historical sites and different famous places. Students showed different pictures and information in it with the help school smart-board. They used school computers as well as their own desktops. The activity helped in bringing a sense of professionalism in students.
Art Club : Leaf Art
Leaf Art Work was the activity conducted in the Art Club. The aim behind it was to bring students close to nature and know more about the leaves and it’s characteristics. Students were guided by the respective Art teacher. They painted the leaves with different colours and many patterns, some took impression of the coloured leaves on the papers, Students came out with many different creative ideas. The students loved this activity as they got the opportunity to spend their time in nature.
Adventure Club : Cycling
As it is rightly said “Health is Wealth” and to fulfil the same aim, cycling activity was conducted by the sports club on school playground. The sports teachers conducted this activity with great energy and enthusiasm. The students were divided house wise and were explained the different techniques of cycling.
The bicycles were provided by the school and students of adventure club were happy. The sports teacher guided the students to understand the traffic rules and maintain it. The activity even conveyed the message of fuel saving and use of bicycles for small distance.
The Photography club is one of the most active clubs of the school. Members were selected based on their inclination and passion towards photography. The purpose of this club is to polish the skills of the students.
Various theme-based photography is planned and carried out by the students. The club carried out product photography which is specially done for online shopping. The teacher explained the students the importance of the angle of the product and asked their ideas about how they want their product to look and display. Accordingly, students collected various things like mobile, laptop, school bag, tiffin, helmet; etc. students clicked the photos from different angles and showed to the teacher. They clicked the photos brilliantly.
They expressed their photography tips among the members. The excitement about learning new skills were really praiseworthy.
